“You must not ever stop being whimsical. And you must not, ever, give anyone else the responsibility for your life.”

Approach to Therapy

Life can be challenging; sometimes, we feel stuck in patterns we don’t fully understand. As someone who has raised three children into adulthood and cared for aging parents, I sincerely appreciate the complexities of family relationships, life transitions, and the emotional weight they carry.  My professional and community-based experiences have shaped my understanding of attachment, evolving family dynamics, and the psychosocial complexities that emerge across the lifespan, including later-life caregiving. I am guided by emotional intelligence and a belief in the power of insight, relationship, and meaning-making to support growth, self-understanding, and healing.

In our work together, I prioritize creating a space that feels safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I’m not a neutral observer, I’m an engaged, thoughtful partner in the process. I pay close attention to both what is said and what may be harder to put into words, helping you gently explore underlying emotions,  relational dynamics, and internal conflicts. At times, I may offer observations, reflections, or gentle challenges to help bring patterns into awareness. My goal is not just insight, but meaningful, lasting change supporting you in developing a more integrated, compassionate, and empowered sense of self.

Focus Areas and Treatment Provided

I work with adults and couples navigating caregiver stress, anxiety and emotion regulation, depression, grief and loss, historic family and attachment concerns, and couples conflict. Across all areas, I integrate insight-oriented work grounded in psychodynamic principles with elements of CBT and practical, skills-based tools. This may include increasing awareness of triggers, identifying relational patterns, strengthening communication, and building capacity for emotional regulation always anchored in your unique story and goals.

I am under the supervision of Dr. Lindsey W. Sherd and my Northwestern psychodynamic program professors as I complete my clinical internship at Authentic Connection Psychological Services.

Reach out now to grow!

Many people find themselves juggling multiple parts of who they are: the part that strives, the part that cares for others, the part that holds things together, and often, the part that feels overwhelmed or unseen. Therapy offers a space to slow this down and begin to understand how these parts interact, where they may be in tension, and how patterns in relationships past and present continue to influence your current life. As we make sense of these dynamics together, there is often more room for clarity, flexibility, and a way of moving through your roles that feels more integrated and sustainable. If this resonates, you’re welcome to reach out. We can begin with a conversation and see if this feels like a good fit for you. I offer in-person sessions in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as well as virtual sessions for clients throughout the state of Michigan.

More about me Professionally and Personally

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business from Central Michigan University and began my career in consulting, where I developed a strong foundation in problem-solving, communication, and working collaboratively with others. I later chose to step away from my professional role to focus on raising our children, who are now adults with families of their own, an experience that continues to shape my understanding of relationships, development, and the evolving roles we hold over time.

In addition to my professional and family roles, I have been actively involved in my community, volunteering within the public school system and advocating for families navigating rare diseases. This work has deepened my appreciation for the complexities individuals and families face, and the importance of feeling supported, understood, and connected to meaningful resources. On a personal level, I love spending time outdoors, whether walking or running, and enjoy traveling, entertaining and cooking; particularly Italian food.  I also cherish time with family and friends and have a particular fondness for a good card game, something that often brings both connection and a bit of lighthearted competition.
